Sports administration: Nation, Bredin become Sport Otago trustees

Former Black Stick James Nation has been appointed to the Sport Otago board of trustees and international netball umpire Jono Bredin has been co-opted as a finance subcommittee member.

Nation moved to Dunedin with his family in 2010 following his retirement from the Black Sticks.

He is a graduate of the University of Otago and has recently completed a master's degree in business administration.

He still plays club hockey and coaches at that level. Nation works for a local technology company and is passionate about promoting healthy, active lifestyles.

He is a two-time finalist for the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants outstanding new member award and was presented with the Otago Chamber of Commerce future leader award in 2010.

Bredin was elected to the Dunedin Netball Board in 2008 and has served as chairman since 2011.

He has officiated in more than 60 tests.

He has umpired at two Commonwealth Games and two World Championships and in the ANZ Championship grand final for the past three years.

He was recently named New Zealand ANZ Championship umpire of the year.
