David Ferrer will return to defend his Heineken Open title in
2012 and will be joined by fellow Spaniard Fernando Verdasco.
The world No 5 has won 11 singles titles, including the
Heineken Open twice, and been to two grand slam semifinals.
Ferrer won US$12 million in career prize money and it will be
his seventh trip to Auckland.
It will be the first time Verdasco plays in Auckland. The
former world No 7 has a current ranking of 23 and has amassed
more than $8 million in career earnings.
