Tournament top seed Caroline Wozniacki is feeling the love from the Auckland crowd at the ASB Classic.

The Danish world No 8 made her first appearance of the year in front of a packed centre court crowd at Stanley Street on Tuesday evening.

The 24-year-old impressed as she enjoyed a straight sets win over Israeli qualifier Julia Glushko and later spoke of her appreciation for the strong local fan support.

"The atmosphere was great. It was a packed crowd and it was really nice to be out there," Wozniacki said.

"It's great, I definitely love the crowd, I love everybody here. They have made me feel very welcome."

It hasn't all been work during her stay however, with Wozniacki revealing she had taken time out from her hectic training schedule to take in some of the local Auckland sights.

"Yesterday I did a little bit of a sightseeing trip and that was nice as well," she said. "I got to see a bit of New Zealand. We went to Waiheke beach and had dinner there and we went to Great Barrier as well which was nice. I got to see some beautiful places."

When asked if she had made her trip via a boat or helicopter Wozniacki smiled and replied: "We actually went on a sea plane. I'm not a big fan of helicopters so whenever I can avoid them I do."

Fans will get their next glimpse of Wozniacki on Wednesday evening when she plays a second round clash against American wildcard Taylor Townsend, who impressed in her victory over former title holder Yanina Wickmayer yesterday.
