Australian Open: What to watch - day four

Don't miss: Victoria Azarenka vs Caroline Wozniacki

This match has three set battle written all over it. World No44 Azarenka is one of the most dangerous floaters in the draw and won their last clash in Cincinnati in 2013. Wozniacki, aiming for her first final in Melbourne, is looking to continue the momentum from her US Open run last year.

Head to Head: Wozniacki leads 4-3

Worth a watch: Gael Monfils vs Jerzy Janowicz

The classic contrast of styles, with the elastic limbed Frenchman and the towering Pole (2.03m).

Janowicz is the aces king, Monfils is the ace of just about everything else. The outcome may be dependant on Monfils' physical state, after his epic comeback from two sets to love down against Lucas Pouille in the first round.

Head to Head: Monfils leads 1-0

Also worth a watch: Lleyton Hewitt vs Benjamin Becker

He might not be the most popular man outside Australia but there is something riveting about watching Hewitt, the quintessential Aussie battler. The 33-year-old has few weapons these days but no one can question his fighting spirit. World No41 Becker is an extremely solid player and will relish a shot on Rod Laver Arena.

Head to Head: Hewitt leads 2-0

Don't forget: Serena Williams vs Vera Zvonareva

Zvonareva is a former world No2 who had been dogged by serious injury over the last three years and now ranked at 203. But the Russian enters the tournament with a protected ranking of 15 and can't be underestimated. Meanwhile Williams is desperate to atone for a relatively poor period in Melbourne, where she hasn't reached the final since 2010.

Head to head: Williams leads Zvonareva 7-2

Novak to follow the pattern of Roger and Rafa? Probably not...

After watching Federer and Nadal (especially) both struggle yesterday, it would be a surprise to see the world No1 endure a similar battle against Andrey Kuznetsov in the final match of the day session. Djokovic hasn't lost to a Russian player since 2010 and the 23-year-old Kuznetsov has only one career victory over a top ten player to his name (vs David Ferrer).

Head to Head: First meeting.

Best of the rest:

#Venus Williams and Lauren Davis meet in a rematch of the ASB Classic semi final (Williams leads career matches 1-0) .

#Defending champion Stan Wawrinka meets Romanian qualifier Marius Copil (Wawrinka leads 1-0).

#Japanese sensation Kei Nishikori takes on Croatian Ivan Dodig (Nishikori leads 3-1).

Kiwis in action

Michael Venus and partner Oliver Marach are up against Peter Gojowczyk and Lukas Rosol. The match is scheduled as not before 3.00pm (5.00pm NZT) on court 22.

Stat of the day

Since making his debut at the 2003 Australian Open, regular Heineken Open visitor David Ferrer has played in every Grand Slam event. He now sits in 5th place for the most consecutive majors players in the Open era (since 1969) with 49.
