The Tertiary team kept its unbeaten record in Dunedin club tennis when it beat Eastern Harbour 4-2 on Saturday.

Other winners were Taieri, which beat Balmacewen Djokovic 5-1, and St Clair which beat Balmacewen Federer 4-2.

The students' top three of Aucklander Aaron Hicks, Hamish Low, of Nelson, and Albert Hailes, former North Otago No 1, have proved too strong in depth for all opponents this season and again all were easy winners this weekend.

Hicks beat Ryan Eggers 6-3, 6-2.

''It was an ugly match in the high winds, but he controlled it too well in the conditions,'' Eggers said.

Hailes beat his cousin Henry Hailes 6-2, 6-2 in one of many encounters they have had as they progressed through juniors together, while Low was far too tidy for Danny Frigberg, winning without dropping a game.

It was only at No 4-where Harbour had any success thanks to Christaan Faber, who also partnered Eggers to a doubles win.

Carlos Reid (Taieri) beat Paddy Ou 6-0, 7-6 in a game where the scores told the story as Ou, had his comeback snuffed out by a well played tiebreak from Reid. Veteran Darryl Paterson handled the wind better than George Alexander to win 6-3, 6-2 in the second spot.

The only success for Balmacewen came from Brett Dixon who held on to beat junior Connor Morrison 6-1, 7-5, after Morrison had led 5-2 in the second set.

The key to St Clair's win was the two three setters they took after coming from a set down in both. Warren Watson, making a return to play, beat Fraser Richardson after losing the first 6-1 and partnered Tony Ryder to a doubles win after losing the first set 6-2.

Mitchell Sizemore (St Clair) showed the value of more matchplay when he beat Henry Neas, a former leading junior from Nelson, 6-2, 6-1 in the top single.

Shane Keenan, who travels from Oamaru each weekend, took his first win, beating Damian Hill in straight sets, while Matt McCutcheon used his swinging left hand deliveries, mixed in with errors, to overcome veteran Tony Ryder 6-4, 7-6.
