Dunedin pastor Peter Tuisano continued his record breaking at
the Otago powerlifting championships on Saturday when he
broke three South Island masters records.
Tuisano (64), who holds a Commonwealth and Oceania record,
returned to the sport last year after three years away.
He broke the records in the masters 3 grade in the 125kg
class. His bench press was 170kg, the deadlift 210kg and the
total 580kg.
South Otago farmer Bruce Park (72) broke three records in the
masters 4 67.5kg class with his bench press (85kg), deadlift
(177.5kg) and total of 387.5kg.
Doug Sekone-Fraser set the other record in the men's grade
with a deadlift of 213kg in the sub-junior 75kg class.
Tulia Sekone-Fraser, his sister, set records in the women's
junior 100kg class, in the squat (165kg), deadlift (200kg)
and total (430kg).
Sonia Manaena won the Otago open women's 90kg title with a
South Island total record of 600kg.
Brett McCormack won the open men's 82.5kg class with a total
of 680kg and Steve Varga the open 110kg class with 615kg.
