The free week-long course teaches sailing skills to children aged 11 to 17.

"The aim is is to offer a sailing experience in our safe harbour waters to schoolchildren who would not otherwise have the opportunity to experience sailing a boat," Water Safety New Zealand South Island manager Annette Godman said.
