Hyde farmer Bevan Dowling has been nominated to replace Strath Taieri Community Board member Lesley Peddie, who resigned last week after nine years on the board.
Mr Dowling, a former board member, was the unanimous choice at this week's community board meeting in Middlemarch to fill the seat vacated by Mrs Peddie, but his selection is subject to approval at the next board meeting.
Mrs Peddie has returned to Wanganui following the death of her husband.
