A concert in Ranfurly today featuring a choir, pipers and
solo singers will raise funds for defibrillators to be based
in Naseby and Ranfurly.
The event has been organised by the Maniototo-Wedderburn
branch of Red Cross and resident Lesley Pocknee said it was
hoped to raise enough money to buy two defibrillators.
The emergency equipment could be used by a layperson on
someone who had suffered cardiac arrest.
The machines "talked" the user through the steps and could
mean the difference between life and death, Ms Pocknee said.
Each defibrillator cost $3800 and they were easy to carry.
The concert will be held at 1.30pm, in the Ranfurly Town
Hall.
