Central Otago's only volunteer radio station has celebrated
the service of those involved for more than 10 years.
Burn 729am, which is based in Ranfurly and broadcasts
throughout Central Otago, will mark the 20th anniversary of
radio in the Maniototo during September 2011.
Many people in the community have been involved with the
station since its establishment.
Others have been essential to its operation through their
contributions of time and energy.
Board member Amie Pont said initially an event was organised
to celebrate 10 years of a Combined Churches of Maniototo
"choices" programme, which aired each Sunday morning.
Some had been announcing for 18 years and others were
involved in founding the station.
Awards made of Oamaru stone and sporting a tea light candle,
to represent Burn, were presented at the event.
People were also made honorary life members of the radio
station.
