Four applications for rural subdivisions are being considered by the Central Otago District Council's hearings panel, including one which could provide irrigation water to Ardgour residents.
The applications were heard in Alexandra on Tuesday after which the panel reserved its decisions.
Council planning consultant David Whitney recommended the applications be granted subject to conditions.
Ardgour resident and Raukura Ltd director David Power applied to create three lots on property fronting on to Ardgour Rd, as an amendment to an earlier application he made to subdivide the site into five lots.
He said there was opposition to having five lots on the property and the amendment was made accordingly, but after recent discussions with residents it appeared there could be support for the original application.
If granted subdivision consent for five lots, Mr Power would be permitted to install a 150mm pipeline taking water from Lindis Irrigation Ltd's race through his property and along Ardgour Rd.
That would provide some property owners on Ardgour Rd access to irrigation water through the scheme - which they were not able to get at present.
Lindis Irrigation chairman Mark Davidson attended the hearing as a representative of the company, which made submissions on both of Mr Power's applications.
Initially, the company was not aware of Mr Power's intentions and submitted on the basis of recommending conditions which would limit his take of domestic and irrigation water.
After considering the proposal Mr Power pay for a pipeline to connect the company's scheme to Ardgour Rd residents, and for those connecting to the scheme to share costs at certain points, Mr Davidson said that would be accepted by the company.
• Malcolm and Janet Weatherall applied for consent to subdivide their 1.5ha Tamblyn Rd property at Lake Roxburgh Village into two lots, as an amendment to an earlier application to create five lots on the site.
• Malcolm and Robyn Reynolds, of Auckland, applied for subdivision and land use consent to create two allotments on property adjacent to Pearson Rd and State Highway 6 at Ripponvale near Cromwell.
• The King Family Trust applied for consent for a three-lot subdivision in Panners Cove near Bannockburn, on land subject to a hazard notation.
