Cromwell's volunteer fire brigade finished fourth in the
United Fire Brigades Association of New Zealand (UFBA)
national road crash rescue challenge held over three days at
Christchurch this week.
Six brigades took part in the event from February 28 to March
2, following preliminary competitions last year.
In first place was Morrinsville, which also won the New
Zealand Safety Trophy.
Whitianga came second and secured the Rescue 111 Shield for
best team leader, as well as the UFBA Technical Trophy.
Greytown took third place and the New Zealand Fire Service
Cup for best medic, UFBA Cup for the controlled event, and
the UFBA Road Crash Rescue Immediate Event Trophy.
Cromwell won the Chubb Fire and Safety Shield for the
entrapped event, in which it beat all five other teams.
Feilding and Hawera came fifth and sixth respectively
