In a thrilling final, organisers described as worthy of any
Golden Shears, Cam Ferguson won the open machines title at
the Waimate Shears on Saturday.
The lead swapped between most of the six finalists, with
Ferguson, from Central Hawkes Bay, heading off former Golden
Shears winner David Fagan (Te Kuiti) and John Kirkpatrick
(Napier).
The open blades title was won by Mike McConnell (Cave), with
Billy Michelle (Timaru) second and Brian Thomson
(Christchurch) third.
