There are trade-offs for being married to a vintage car "addict", Ashburton woman Phyl Ellis concedes.
"We go nice places," Mrs Ellis said on Saturday, while she and husband Vern waited at Takaro Park for the start of the North Otago Vintage Car Club's annual Windsor Rally.
The retired couple were driving their 1934 Chrysler Airflow.
When asked how many vintage vehicles he had, Mr Ellis said: "just say several".
Mrs Ellis, however, counting on her fingers, managed to come up with at least eight - all fully restored.
