Waitaki District Health Services, operator of the Oamaru
Hospital, has recorded a small loss for the first six months
of this year and hopes to at least break even at the end of
the financial year, despite forecasting a major deficit.
However, the company responsible for delivering health
services to the Waitaki district is also concerned about
future funding from the cash-strapped Otago District Health
Board.
Chairman George Berry reported a half-year deficit of
$31,721, which he said represented a significant saving on
the initial budgets.
