New Zealand author
Dame Fiona Kidman is to be this year's guest at the Janet
Frame Eden Street Trust's annual workshop.
The trust is bringing Dame Fiona to Oamaru on April 17 to run
a workshop and take part in "a proper high tea at Burnside"
with fellow writer Owen Marshall.
The trust has organised the workshop, "Telling Our Stories"
at the Waitaki Girls' High School Janet Frame Room, followed
by lunch and writing at the Janet Frame house.
The high tea and discussion on "The Spirit of Writing" with
Mr Marshall will be at Burnside Homestead from 5.30pm.
Dame Fiona is a fiction writer, memoirist and poet. Her
recent publications are two volumes of memoir, At the End of
Darwin Road and Beside the Dark Pool.
She is a Dame Commander of the New Zealand Order of Merit.
Recently, the French Government invested her with the double
honour of Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres
(Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters) and the French
Legion of Honour.
