Man to be charged with assault

A man in his 20s will be charged with assault with intent to injure and assault following an altercation at the Waihemo Tavern in Palmerston on Friday.

Members of the public intervened in a domestic incident and, as a result, another man was taken to Dunedin Hospital with moderate injuries, Sergeant Tony Woodbridge said.

A 25-year-old Kurow man was flown by Otago Regional Rescue Helicopter to Dunedin Hospital on Saturday afternoon after he was thrown from a motorcycle near Livingstone.

The man, who struck loose gravel, was knocked out and broke his collarbone, Constable Craig Bennett, of Kurow said.

A Cromwell teenager was lucky to escape injury after crashing on State Highway 8, near Dalrachney Station, on Saturday night.

The 16-year-old, who was returning home from the Maadi Cup rowing regatta in Twizel, had a "small lapse in concentration" and, after unsuccessfully attempting to regain control, her car rolled.
