The Mana Pounamu Young Achievers Awards were announced last
Friday, with 34 young Otago people's achievements recognised.
The awards celebrate the success and achievement of rakatahi
Maori, encourage them to participate in tertiary study,
identify leadership potential and provide positive role
models for others.
Awards were split into tuakana (senior) and teina (junior)
sections.
Several scholarships were also awarded by Otago Polytechnic,
for full fee payment of a chosen course of study, and
AgResearch, for the University of Otago Hands on Science week
in 2010.
