Three Clutha students part way through their tertiary
education have been awarded Tuapeka County bursaries.
Claire Tweed (24), of Waitahuna, Rachel Mariu (20), of
Tapanui, and Ruby Mills (19), of Roxburgh, will each get $800
from the fund administered by the Clutha District Council.
Ms Tweed will this year complete her third and final year at
Otago Polytechnic where she is studying for a bachelor of
nursing degree.
Ms Mariu has just finished her second year at the Otago
University College of Education through its Southland campus.
Ms Mills will this year complete her final year at the
university where she is studying for a bachelor of arts
degree.
The bursaries were established by the former Tuapeka County
Council and are available to students living in the former
county's area which includes Lawrence, Tapanui and Roxburgh.
The council received 13 applications for this year's bursary.
Students will have another chance to apply in November this
year
