Black Caps fast bowler Tim Southee might be hoping to leave his mark on a few English batsmen in tonight's opening test at Lord's but he's had to apoligise to a female journalist after hitting her during batting practice overnight.
ESPNcricinfo reporter Melinda Farrell had her back to the training session filming a video when a ball struck by the New Zealand tail-ender hit her in the middle of the back.
Southee was quick to check on Farrell and was expecting the worst. "I saw you duck and I thought 'oh no'.
I thought it might have hit you in the head," Southee said. Farrell said she expected to have a bruise after the encounter. "I'll wear it with pride..A badge of honour," she said.
