Man recovering after removal of pellet

An 18-year-old man who was shot in the knee earlier this week was recovering at his Alexandra home yesterday after surgery at Dunedin Hospital on Tuesday to remove the pellet.

Sergeant Derek Ealson, of Alexandra, said the pellet was embedded quite deeply. A friend of the victim, an 18-year-old Alexandra man, appeared in the Alexandra District Court on Monday, on a charge of causing injury by using an air gun carelessly.

He was remanded to August 21. The incident occurred early on Monday in Royal Tce, Alexandra, when a group of friends were belatedly celebrating a birthday.
