The winner will be announced at a function on Monday afternoon that heralds the start of the festival activities.
Events continue until October 13.
The float procession on Saturday, September 28 will be a highlight.
The senior Queen contest began 18 years ago, as a way of thanking the senior women in the district who devoted countless hours to the festival and other volunteer work.
Competitors have to be 70 or older to enter.
