Alexandra police are likely to make further arrests in
relation to an incident in the town at 4am yesterday.
A 26-year-old man and 23-year-old woman, both of Alexandra,
were arrested and charged with assault after police were
called to a disturbance at a residential address in Ellis St.
Sergeant Andy Reed, of Alexandra, said police were called to
reports of people yelling.
"A group of associates had a bit of a falling out. Injuries
were minor," he said.
Sgt Reed said further charges would likely be laid, against
those already arrested, as well as others involved in the
incident.
Cromwell police attended two car crashes near the town
yesterday, although no-one was injured in either incident.
At 11.42am a vehicle crashed off State Highway 6 between
Cromwell and Wanaka.
No other vehicles were involved, and nobody was arrested.
About 2pm, tourists travelling along SH6 towards Queenstown
in the Kawarau Gorge stopped suddenly to turn into the
Roaring Meg power station lookout.
A truck driver traveling behind the tourists did not have
time to slow down and crashed into the back of their vehicle.
