The list of awards continues to grow for Michael Hill's Arrowtown golf course, The Hills - this time the planners and resource management lawyers have been recognised.

Brown & Pemberton and Anderson Lloyd were named winners of the "significant project" award at the Resource Management Law Association (RMLA) awards in Wellington on Saturday night, for their work on The Hills Homesites project.

The project, which was granted resource consent in July, will have 17 dwellings built within the folds of The Hills golf course and surrounds - home to the New Zealand Golf Open since 2007.

Independent commissioners granted consent on June 16.

The decision was subject to an appeal period but no appeals were made.

Thirty-four submissions were received - 24 in support, 17 against and three neutral.

Vanessa Robb, of Anderson Lloyd, said the proposal for the project was the most comprehensively designed and planned project within a visual amenity landscape to come before the Resource Management commission panel in the region.

The RMLA award, presented at the association's conference, signified real industry acknowledgement of the expertise, time and energy which had gone into The Hills project and was a genuine reflection on the quality of the project developed to date.

Brown & Pemberton's and Anderson Lloyd's nomination for The Hills Homesites Project was one of nine nominations in the national project section this year.

The criteria for the significant projects category required set evidence the project had made a significant contribution to the advancement of resource management best practice.

Michael and Christine Hill congratulated the companies for the award.
