If you missed the spectacular fireworks display in Arrowtown
on Wednesday night, there will be a second chance tonight,
when The Hills golf course hosts another event.
General manager Sam Gent said a "major corporate event"
comprising about 300 international visitors had been in the
resort for about two weeks.
Various venues had hosted the group over its time in the
Wakatipu, but The Hills had been approached by an event
management company to host the final evening.
"As we've said all along, the [Michael Hill New Zealand] Open
does more than just network and show golf to the world.
"It shows New Zealand to the world and Queenstown to the
world."
The four-minute firework display would be held at the
conclusion of the conference at 10.30pm.
Ms Gent encouraged residents to find a spot where they could
see the sky light up.
She said it was perfect timing, with most of the golfers
competing in the New Zealand Open - which officially begins
on Thursday - in town from tomorrow.
