Plan change hearings in May on the controversial Arrowtown
South project and on urban boundaries in the Queenstown Lakes
district will be chaired by district councillors Gillian
Macleod and Lyal Cocks.
They will join independent commissioner Mike Garland for the
proposed private plan change 39 Arrowtown South hearing.
The proposal includes a subdivision of 215 houses, 4.6km of
public trails, 12ha of open space, a 8374sq m village and a
road between Centennial Ave and McDonnell Rd.
The Arrowtown South hearing is provisionally set for the week
starting either May 10 or May 17.
The three commissioners will also chair the hearing for plan
change 30 urban boundary framework in late March and plan
change 29 Arrowtown boundary in late April.
Policy and planning general manager Phillip Pannett gave an
update on plan changes under way, during a recent QLDC
committee meeting.
Mr Pannett recommended a council officer prepare a council
submission on Queenstown Airport Corporation private plan
change 35 for councillors to approve.
The airport's proposal to extend air noise boundaries and
operating hours to midnight and its alteration to the notice
of requirement to alter the existing airport designation was
notified on January 27.
Submissions close on February 26.
Mr Pannett reported there had not been any appeals to Plan
Change 25 on the Kingston Special Zone by the deadline of
February 3.
The plan sought to guide the expansion of Kingston and create
water and wastewater infrastructure to new and existing parts
of the township.
A student planner has been surveying operators in Queenstown
and Wanaka's business and industrial zones to monitor the
zones and make recommendations for any plan change, Mr
Pannett said.
Information collected would be presented to the strategy
committee this year.
