Clutha Recreation Centre committee chairman Jeff Seymour
says he is "delighted" with the public's response to a
fundraising appeal launched last November.
Mr Seymour said the committee had set a goal of between
$800,000 and $900,000 to complete the $5 million project and
so far, more than $450,000 had been raised.
"We are now in the final fundraising push," he said.
In November, the committee decided to seek extra funds to
enable the new centre to have "top-notch" flooring, which is
what the community wanted, he said. A final decision on the
type of flooring would be made by the end of this month.
Mr Seymour said it was hoped contractors Calder Stewart will
have finished building the centre, and have it operational,
by the end of June, although the committee was flexible on
that.
