Craig Dinnissen
A former Balclutha detective has been promoted to fill
the sergeant's role in the Clutha policing district.
Craig Dinnissen (38) has spent most of his 14 years in the
police force at the Balclutha station where, since 2008, he
has been a detective.
Sergeant Dinnissen also had brief stints at Te Anau, South
Auckland, and Dunedin.
Before joining the police force, Sgt Dinnissen worked as a
pig farmer at Stirling, near Balclutha, for four years,
before taking up industry-related study at Massey University
and working at Otorohanga.
Sgt Dinnissen joined the Combined Investigation Unit as a
constable in 2002, being promoted to detective in 2008. A
replacement to the CIU has yet to be named.
A month into the new job, Sgt Dinnissen said he was enjoying
his new role, despite the large amount of paperwork that came
with it.
"It's good working with the guys and the girls as a team - we
have a great crew here."
The Balclutha station provided a variety of work for police
officers and a good working environment, he said.
Sgt Dinnissen fills the vacancy created by Sergeant Martin
Bull, who returned to his home town of Otaki in November, to
serve in nearby Levin.
Three constables were also recently appointed to the
Balclutha station: Constable Craig Gordon (Foxton), Constable
Rochelle Gordon (Levin) and Constable Deirdre Mills (Gore).
