The call is out for moped and veteran motorbike riders ahead
of a small motorcycle rally in South Otago this Sunday.
Organised by the South Otago Vintage Car Club, the rally
begins in Balclutha and heads to the Catlins for the day.
Club member Jim Beeby, who organises the rally, said it was a
chance to have some fun for owners of mopeds and very old
motorbikes which were too slow for motorbike rallies.
The rally for bikes under 50cc - although the odd 50cc bike
is expected to sneak in - is held every second year.
Mr Beeby said 29 entries had been received so far.
Riders will meet at the clubrooms in Crown St at 10am,
departing Balclutha for Owaka at 10.30am.
The group planned to have lunch in Owaka and might also ride
to Pounawea, before returning to Balclutha by 3.30pm, Mr
Beeby said.
Last-minute entries are accepted and anyone keen to take part
in the rally can contact Mr Beeby or any other club member
before Sunday.
