Nearly 250 Girls' Brigade members and their families from Otago, Southland and South Canterbury - including 190 from Dunedin - travelled by train to Middlemarch for a day of activities, games and a barbecue lunch.

Girls' Brigade New Zealand Otago area commissioner Jennifer Box, of Dunedin, who is also Girls' Brigade Pacific vice-president, said the outing was the largest of its kind for more than a decade, and was a chance for brigade leaders and families to get to know each other.
