The annual Caledonian Society of Otago Highland Games was
held at the Caledonian Ground, in Dunedin, yesterday.
The day started with the traditional piping, marching and
Highland dancing but soon gave way to caber-tossing, tug of
war and less conventional gumboot throwing.
The annual Queen O'The Heather crown was won by Jane Guthrie.
The Caledonian Society, established in 1862, was the first
Scottish Society formed in New Zealand.
