Filipa "Fairy" Crofskey repaints John Noakes' mural at the
Marion St bus stop in Portobello Rd, Dunedin, recently.
Ms Crofskey began working on the mural about a month ago
after being asked to do it by the Dunedin City Council.
She was about one-quarter of the way through and, depending
on the weather, hoped to complete it by Christmas.
While she was working from a photograph of the original
mural, the "colours will be a lot brighter" and she wanted to
add other characters, including a Smurf.
Because the work was a reconstruction of an existing mural,
it did not require resource consent. When it was painted
over, people were "up in arms", then "really glad" to see her
redoing it, she said.
