marching orders after several library users complained she

The welcome extended to an unwanted cat who made her home
at the Blueskin Bay Library has not been renewed.
Fur left behind by the long-haired Mimi has aggravated the
allergies of some library users and has resulted in the the
cat being given her marching orders.
She will move to a new home in Northeast Valley tonight.
Since the then heavily pregnant cat was dumped at Orokonui in
December 2005 she has lived in Mosgiel and Warrington before
settling in Waitati last year.
The former Warrington School cat soon made the library her
new home, much to the delight of residents - or at least most
of them - librarian Louise Booth said.
Ms Booth's home was one of three in the area Mimi would also
visit, but the librarian said it was impossible to keep her
from returning to her favourite place - the library.
Fielding "several complaints" from users that Mimi's presence
was causing allergic reactions and that she had taken the
occasional swipe at young children, it was decided Blueskin
Bay Library's first cat would have to leave the area, she
said.
"Some customers are pretty upset about losing her. I am
particularly sad. I am going to miss her so much. She is a
little burst of light wherever she goes."
Waitati residents are encouraged to say goodbye to Mimi
before she moves to her new home.
