Dart River Jet Safaris has joined the growing ranks of
Queenstown adventure tourism operators who have had their
environmental efforts recognised by the Green Globe stamp of
approval.
The company, which operates in the Te Wahipounamu South West
New Zealand World Heritage Area, was awarded Green Globe
Benchmarked Bronze status.
Dart River Jet Safaris had been measuring and improving
performance in terms of energy and water consumption, total
waste production and community commitment through an
integrated environmental and social policy.
Manager Andy Chapman was delighted the operator had achieved
the Benchmarked Bronze status, which represented further
change and improvement in environmental practices and
business efficiency.
Mr Chapman said the environment was a major draw card for
visitors.
Being green also saved the company money.
Other Wakatipu operators who have benchmarked accreditation
include Appellation Central Wine Tours, Distinction Luxmore,
Distinction Te Anau Hotel and Villas, Heritage Queenstown,
Nomad Safaris, NZone The Ultimate Jump, Queenstown Top 10
Holiday Park Creeksyde and Remarkables Lodge.
