Dunedin musician Kylie Price enjoyed a golden run at the
weekend's New Zealand Gold Guitar awards in Gore.
Kylie (16) was yesterday named as the overall winner in the
intermediate section of the annual Gold Guitar competition,
after picking up titles for best composition, traditional and
gospel styles and vocal solo.
The win is a continuation of a brief but successful career
for Kylie, who started playing guitar at age 7 and began
singing lessons at age 11.
The junior and intermediate sections of the competition were
held on Friday and Saturday nights, followed by the seniors
last night.
Results.- Junior: Highest-scoring Gore CMC member, Jenny
Mitchell (Gore); gospel, Khona Va'aga-Gray (Otara); duet
Amelia & Liam (Hinds); vocal solo, Khona Va'aga-Gray;
overall winner, Khona Va'aga-Gray.
Intermediate: Highest-scoring Gore CMC member, Cavell
Clearwater (Invercargill); composition, Kylie Price
(Dunedin); best group, Miti Girls (Wellington); instrumental,
Just Kiddin' (Auckland); traditional, Kylie Price; gospel,
Kylie Price; duet, Dream Girls (Wellington); country rock,
Tiana Miti (Wellington); vocal solo, Kylie Price; overall
runner-up, Tiana Miti; overall winner, Kylie Price.
