Police have launched a homicide inquiry after a 38-year-old
woman was found dead in an Invercargill hostel.
The woman's body was discovered in her room at the hostel on
Tyne St about 10am today.
Inspector Olaf Jensen said police were speaking to a
30-year-old man who was taken to into custody this afternoon.
The man was known to the woman and was being interviewed in
connection with the homicide.
The scene has been cordoned off and will remain under guard
until a forensic examination is carried out tomorrow.
Mr Jensen said the investigation was in its early stages and
no further details were available.
