A 26-year-old Kaitangata man is facing two charges after he
was spotted driving a quad bike in the town on Thursday
night. Sergeant Craig Dinnissen, of Balclutha, said the man
was seen driving the bike from Eddystone St to Exmouth St
about 7pm.
He drove away from police into a forestry block in the
Kaitangata hills, where he was found 1.5km up a track and
arrested. Sgt Dinnissen said the man escaped custody and was
later found at his home in Kaitangata.
He was taken to Clutha Health First for treatment, having
injured the soles of his feet running away from police
barefoot.
He was charged with dangerous driving and resisting police
and is due to appear in the Balclutha District Court, sitting
in Gore, on January 14.
