Sunny skies above Lake Hayes brought crowds of families and "kids for Africa" out for the Wakatipu Community Church Fair on Saturday, raising a mammoth $27,000 at the annual fundraiser.

Bouncy castles, sausage sizzles, wacky bikes and second-hand goods galore were the order of the day, with many people taking the opportunity to picnic in the brilliant weather.

Organiser Lindsay Key was "thrilled" with the result, which after bills of about $8000 are paid, will leave a total of about $19,000, and thanked the community for its support.

Queenstown Times reporter Joe Dodgshun stopped by with his camera.
