A Lawrence woman was airlifted to Dunedin Hospital yesterday
after she was mauled by two dogs.
St John southern region communications co-ordinator Alena
Lynch said a 43-year-old woman was taken to Dunedin with
moderate to serious injuries after an incident at her home
about 3.30pm. The woman sustained lacerations and puncture
wounds to her arms and legs, she said.
Senior Constable Steve Griffiths, of Milton, said he believed
the woman owned the two dogs and had tried to intervene when
they began fighting each other.
A Clutha District Council dog ranger told the Otago Daily
Times a ranger would visit the woman once she returned
home to investigate the incident.
A Dunedin Hospital spokesman said last night the woman was
still in the emergency department being assessed.
