Planning is well under way for the Lawrence Clutha Gold
Country Fair to be held in March.
The event, organised by the Tuapeka Lawrence Community
Company (TLCC) will be held on St Patrick's Day, March 17.
TLCC chairman Peter Cummings said the company was approaching
businesses providing services to the new Clutha Gold Trail to
showcase their businesses at the fair.
He said the main theme for the day will be the Clutha Gold
Trail with St Patrick's Day as a minor theme.
The fair will open at 10am, a junior talent quest will start
at 11am, and a decorated bike competition will be held.
A parade along the main street will begin at 1pm, featuring
vintage machinery, cars and items of interest from around the
town. Bicycles of all types and vintages will also be
highlighted in the parade.
The Lawrence Lions Club will hold a weigh-in for the
spud-in-the-bag competition during the fair and the winners
will be announced at 3pm.
The company also hoped to organise rides along the Clutha
Gold Trail during the day.
