Milton's living Christmas tree in the grounds of the
Tokomairiro Presbyterian Church was decorated in the
weekend by Milton Area Promotions, with help from some
community-minded groups.
The Christmas spirit is alive and well in Milton.
On Saturday, the town's Christmas tree, in the grounds of the
Tokomairiro Presbyterian Church, was decorated in about two
and a-half hours, according to the Milton Area Promotions
spokeswoman Gaynor Finch.
Yesterday, Clutha Mayor Bryan Cadogan called on main-street
businesses, handing out invitations to join him and other
Milton retailers for a get-together on Friday.

"I'm getting Milton retailers together to talk about
things. I'll put on the drink if someone buys a bag of chips,"
he said.
Mr Cadogan said he found businesses in Milton to be up-beat
and looking forward to Christmas trading.
Mrs Finch said the tree decorating on Saturday had been done
by a team of community-minded people.
Milton Rotary Club members helped with placing the lights
around the bottom of the tree, while Calder Stewart provided
a hydraulic platform for decorating higher up.
"Each year, we are getting more and more decorations. There
are things happening in Milton, and it's really good to see,"
Mrs Finch said.
