A large crowd found plenty to enjoy at a "Party in the
Park" in Mosgiel at the weekend.
This event is part of the annual Festival of the Plain, which
celebrates "living on the Taieri" and includes a Blue Light
Disco this Friday.
Family groups enjoyed the live music at the Saturday party,
which was held in the children's playground area at Memorial
Park.
Participants also enjoyed a range of refreshments, including
sausages and ice creams.
Some also tried out the bouncy castles, and were intrigued by
some balloon sculptures.
The Fire Service demonstrated the use of fire hoses, and
provided a safety display.
Event co-ordinator Ian Chalmers said the party had gone
"extremely well".
No formal count had been kept but he believed several
thousand people had attended throughout the day.
Entertainment organiser Robyn Taylor said hot weather had
resulted in a much bigger turnout than last year, with many
people staying on to 8pm.
Last year, overcast conditions had resulted in many people
leaving early.
