The beginning of the Easter school holidays will be marked this weekend in Queenstown at the Skyline Easter Family Fun Day.
Skyline Gondola and Luge sales development manager Kellie Goodwin said families were encouraged to head up the Skyline Gondola on Saturday to join in the Easter fun from 10am to 2pm.
Ms Goodwin said there would be plenty of fun and free activities, including face-painting, Easter egg decoration, games and an Easter treasure hunt.
"We will also have our very own celebrity superhero, Captain Gravity, and his good friend the Easter Bunny popping in and I'm sure he'll be keen to challenge you to a luge ride or two," she said.
"This is a great day and it's a great chance for friends, family and fellow locals to get together."
