Queenstown dealership and consultancy Art Bay opens its first retail gallery in the new Mountaineer this month.

Art Bay Gallery, first floor on the Shotover St side of the complex, will feature work by contemporary New Zealand artists, owners Pauline and Pedro Bianchi say.

Works by Queenstown artists John Shewry and Simon Morrison-Deaker will be shown in mid-August.

Art by Dick Frizzell, the man behind the metamorphosis of Mickey Mouse into a tiki (pictured), forms one-third of the latest exhibition at Milford Galleries Queenstown.

"Works On Paper" features a new edition of Frizzell's memorable 2007 screenprint It's About Time plus other examples of the North Island artist's reinvention and pastiche.

New Zealand figurative artist Nigel Brown presents a new suite of eight hand-coloured lithographs titled Seven Last Words.

Alexis Neal, of Wellford, delivers etched and relief prints titled Tukutuku II and Messenger as part of her "In Loving Memory" series.

Matautanga, the latest in her "Whariki" series, blends the traditionally female art forms raranga whakairo (traditional patterned weaving) and European tapestry.

The exhibition runs until July 29.
