The Queenstown Lakes District Council has approved parking
restrictions on Lake Ave, Frankton, near the new Remarkables
Primary School.
Councillors approved the bylaw amendment at their meeting
this week.
The school will open in February.
The council's utilities committee endorsed the proposed
restrictions earlier this month.
A report by infrastructure strategy manager Denis Mander said
residents were consulted in October.
Three submissions were received.
"These were responded to through changes in the proposal, to
the point where we believe residents are generally satisfied
with the approach being taken," he said.
Parking is forbidden along Lake Ave, between Allen Cres and
McBride St.
Two-minute parking is allowed in front of the school in a
drop-off/pick up area at the beginning and end of each school
day.
He said Lakes Environmental parking officers would be "quite
visible" in the area in the first couple of weeks of the
first school term, to reinforce the controls.
