The Waikouaiti Rodeo Club is preparing to paint the town pink
again.
The CRT Tough Enough To Wear Pink rodeo will be held at
Waikouaiti on February 5.
Last year's rodeo raised nearly $9000 for the New Zealand
Breast Cancer Foundation.
It was hoped to have another successful event with people
enjoying "a fun day out for everybody" and seeing the skills
of the cowboys and cowgirls.
The proximity to the beach made it a "stunning" location,
club member Henrietta Purvis said.
People have been encouraged to buy polo shirts - bright pink
for women, and black and grey with a logo for men - to help
the cause.
All the cowboys and cowgirls will be wearing pink.
There were a lot of cowboys heading down from the North
Island, as it was getting close to the national finals in Te
Anau on March 26 and there were a lot of titles "up for
grabs".
"It's one of the last rodeos, so they need to win points,"
Mrs Purvis said.
Other southern rodeos include Mataura on January 29,
Southland on January 30, Outram on February 6 and Lawrence on
February 12.
