Wanaka skifield visitors will have their choices cut to one
after the weekend, as three resorts hold season closing
events today and tomorrow.
Pisa Range sister operations Snow Park and Snow Farm are
shutting their operations for the winter season today.
The Snow Park will hold a social quarter pipe jam event
called the "Washed Up Cup" for senior skiers and riders this
afternoon.
At 7pm, the freestyle terrain park hosts the season-ending
Snow Park after party at the Woolshed, with DJs spinning
discs until the early hours of Sunday.
The Nordic skiing facility Snow Farm closes its 55km of
cross-country trails from today.
This weekend's mountain fix will be the last until next year
at Treble Cone, which closes for the season tomorrow with its
annual fancy dress and Jose Cuervo splash cup events.
Cardrona Alpine Resort will be the only Wanaka skifield to
remain open.
It is due to close on October 12.
In the Queenstown area, Coronet Peak closed its 2008 season
yesterday.
Ski area manager Hamish McCrostie said warm weather had
spoiled the field's best intentions of staying open until
tomorrow, for a second attempt at holding the international
day, postponed from an earlier date when the field closed for
a period.
The Remarkables Ski Area will stay open, with good spring
skiing conditions prevailing.
