This weekend's mountain fix will be the last until next year at Treble Cone, which closes for the season tomorrow with its annual fancy dress and Jose Cuervo splash cup events.

Cardrona Alpine Resort will be the only Wanaka skifield to remain open.

It is due to close on October 12.

In the Queenstown area, Coronet Peak closed its 2008 season yesterday.

The Remarkables Ski Area will stay open, with good spring skiing conditions prevailing.
