Bad weather yesterday closed Wanaka skifields and forced the
postponement of the first day of events at the New Zealand
University Snow Games.
The University Snow Games are held annually in Wanaka and
attract entries from 10 tertiary education institutions
throughout New Zealand.
Melbourne University has also entered a team.
Team managers were to be contacted last night by event
organisers with a revised programme and it was hoped
yesterday's scheduled events - the giant slalom and slalom
for skiers and giant slalom for boarders - could be
rescheduled.
The social programme in Wanaka, was unaffected and continues
tonight with the Op Shop Ball.
There will be a prizegiving on completion of the games on
Wednesday night.
The Uni Games hotline for weather and postponements is (021)
870-212.
