Outgoing Lake Wanaka Tourism chairman Steve
Worley is tipping Wanaka Chamber of Commerce president Leigh
Stock to step up and head the board, after his resignation
was accepted at the organisation's annual meeting.
Mr Worley has held the top position, in a self-described
"interim role" during the past four months, after former
long-serving chairman Jon Davies stepped down in July.
Four board members were elected unopposed at the regional
tourism organisation's annual meeting yesterday evening.
Wanaka travel agent Ross McRobie will debut on the board,
while Mr Stock and Skydive Lake Wanaka co-founder Jools Hall
have been appointed again after time away from the
organisation.
Former deputy chairman Duncan Spear, who is Puzzling World's
marketing manager, was re-elected to the board, after he
provisionally stepped down upon the completion of a
constitutionally prescribed two-year term.
Mr Worley described his interim period as chairman as one of
"conservative transition".
Lake Wanaka Tourism was without a chief executive for three
months of the past financial year, before James Helmore was
appointed general manager in February.
The organisation had recorded an "on paper" net profit of
$38,372, well up from a net loss of $26,242 in 2008.
Mr Worley is leaving to pursue new business opportunities in
the photography and publication industry from his Helwick St
camera retail store, which he has run for the past 11 years.
