Wanaka's new dog pound should be built on the corner of
Ballantyne and Riverbank Rds, the Wanaka Community Board
decided unanimously on Tuesday, despite public opposition.
The project is likely to be opposed, but an alternative site
at Wanaka Airport is likely to be opposed by residents of the
neighbouring Poplar Beach subdivision.
The building would be large enough for five dogs and have an
external run. Any noise could be mitigated by landscaping and
planting, the board was told.
